SAICOBABの14年ぶりの2nd Album「SAB SE PURANI BAB」2017.6.6 日本先行発売

アルバムタイトルですが、
SAB SE PURANIはヒンディー語で「最古の（女の）赤ちゃん」の意よって。
「最古の女の赤ちゃん、”BAB”」って、意味です。

2001年からSAICOBAB（サイコバブ＝最古の赤ちゃん）は
SitarのYOSHIDADAIKITI / ヨシダダイキチとYOSHIMIO / ヨシミのimprovisationから生まれる合間のゆらぎ音楽を奏でてきましたが、
今年からRagaの古代ヌメロロジカルな手法をもとに作曲した音楽を演奏するGrind Raga Core バンドとして活動することに決めました、笑。
YOSHIMIOは珍しく何も楽器を持たずただただボーカリストとしてジャンプしようとしてます。

アルバムジャケットは菌糸サイズの絵を平気で描く
大井戸猩猩 / OOIDO SYOUJOUに全く今までと違う手法で最古の赤ちゃんを
描いていただきました。BABちゃんといいます。実は仲間もたくさんいます。。。笑。

日本からはBOREDOMSのEY3とYOSHIMIOのプロデュースするSHOCK CITY宙にさらに、
YOSHIMIOのOUTPUTをリリースする専門レーベル、SHOCHY立ち上げ、そこよりリリース！されました。
日本盤はちょっと文庫本的なCDケース仕様。。。
10月20日にはシカゴの老舗レーベル、thrill jockeyからアメリカ盤、
アナログ盤2LP（ボーナストラック入り）とCDがリリースされます。

とにかく聴いてみてください。誰も聴いたことないやつですから。。。

YOSHIMIO

SAICOBAB’s is releasing their second album in 11 years, “SAB SE PURANI BAB” which means “ancient (female) baby” in Hindi.

SAICOBAB (the band name means “ancient baby”) formed in 2001 when YOSHIMIO and sitar player Daikichi Yoshida started improvising together, and this year they started incorporating ragas and ancient numerology into their compositions to create a Grind Raga Core sound. In this band, YOSHIMIO is not playing any instruments which is quite rare, and is focusing on vocals and jumping around.

The cover artwork was created by Syoujou Ooido who is known for his microscopic drawings, and the artwork is his interpretation of an “ancient baby”. We named the baby “Bab-chan”. Bab-chan has a lot of friends, and we’re planning to introduce them to the world someday.

The album is being released from the new SHOCHY label which was started to release YOSHIMIO’s projects. SHOCHY is a sublabel of SHOCK CITY, which is headed by EY3 from the BOREDOMS and YOSHIMIO. The packaging of the Japanese version of the CD looks like a paperback book.

A double LP (with bonus tracks, Remix by Cevdet Erek) and a CD is being released on October 20 from Thrill Jockey in Chicago.
